Official language of the Congress

The two official languages of the Congress are Slovenian and English. Abstracts need to be written in either Slovenian or English. Presentation slides need to be in either Slovenian or English. Plenary sections will have simultaneous translation from English to Slovenian and vice versa. All parallel sections and poster sections will be in Slovenian. This does not apply to parallel sections in the large hall, where the presentation can be in either Slovenian or English, and simultaneous translation from Slovenian to English and vice versa will be assured.

 

Registration and information booth

The registration booth will be located in the lobby of the Thermana Laško congress hall, where participants will be able to get their name tags, congress material and all other information. Registration will begin on 10.04.2024 at 17.00 and will last until 12 noon on 12 April 2024. Due to the acquisition of ZZS credits, it is imperative that each participant registers themselves at their arrival.

 

Name tags

Congress participants will receive their name tag at the registration, which will allow them access to all congress events in accordance with their paid congress fee. The persons accompanying the congress participants will receive a name tag which will allow them access to congress events in accordance with their paid congress fee. Name tags will allow accredited journalist unlimited access to all congress events.

 

Speaker room (technical matters)

Plenary speakers and parallel section speakers will have the option to review their presentation in the speaker room in the Thermana Congress Centre, with the assistance of the technical staff of the Congress. All presentations need to be sent in advance in the agreed format  via the Congress website at least two days before the start of the Congress. Speakers will be able to make last minute changes to their presentations in the speaker room.

 

Simultaneous translation

Plenary sections will have simultaneous translation from English to Slovenian and vice versa. Simultaneous translation from Slovenian to English and vice versa will be available for parallel sections in the large hall of the Thermana Congress Centre.

 

Presentation duration

Plenary session speakers will have up to 30 minutes for their presentation.

Parallel section speakers will have up to 15 minutes for their presentation.

 

WiFi

During the congress, the standard wireless access to the internet (WiFi) will be available in the Thermana Laško Congress Centre. You do not need any username or password, just select “WiFi Kongres”.

 

Coffee and refreshments

Coffee breaks will be in the lobby of the Thermana Congress Centre. A total of four coffee breaks are planned during the congress. The exact schedule of coffee breaks is included in the congress programme.

 

Lunch

Lunch will be organised for all congress participants in the self service restaurant. The exact schedule for lunch breaks is included in the congress programme.

 

Special food

A wide assortment of food will be available at the food buffet. If you have any special requests regarding the food, please tell that to the waiting staff in the restaurant.

 

Smoking

Smoking in Slovenia is prohibited in all closed public and working spaces, which also includes restaurants and accommodation facilities. You have to be at least 18 years of age to purchase tobacco products.

 

Currency

The official currency in Slovenia is the euro (EUR). You can exchange cash at banks, post offices and currency exchange offices, and numerous ATMs are available to you as well. You can check the exchange rate at the Bank of Slovenia website.

 

Travel documents (passport, etc)

Slovenia is a member of the Schengen area. There are no border controls within this area. This applies to all members of the European Union (except for Bulgaria, Ireland, Romania). Travel within this area is possible with a valid ID card or passport. Certain states require a visa in order to allow entry into the Schengen area.

 

Electrical installation

The electrical voltage in Slovenia is 230 volts with frequency of 50 Hz. Slovenia is using the so-called European socket with the official marking CEE 7/16.

 

Tap water

Most people in Slovenia prefer drinking water from tap because it is pristine and does not need to be boiled first. A water fountain with thermal water is also available to you at the Thermana Park Laško Hotel. The thermal water from Laško has a positive and stimulating effect, it improves balance and strengthens the organism, it helps in the detoxification of the body, it reduces acidification, has a slight laxative effect, etc.

 

Food

The food available on the Slovenian market is produced without genetically modified organisms.

It is recommended to note down the following numbers because you never know when you might need them:

Health safety

There are no dangerous diseases in Slovenia, therefore there are no prescribed special vaccinations in order to visit the country. However, the application of the tetanus vaccine is recommended, but not urgent. Non-prescription medications can be purchased in pharmacies for minor diseases, such as cold, headache, increased body temperature or insect bites. Most Slovenian towns have a pharmacy and cities even have on-duty pharmacies, which are open 24 hours a day. Medical care in Slovenia is very branched. Almost all Slovenian towns have health centres, while smaller towns have clinics. Emergency health services cover all places in Slovenia and a helicopter is available when needed. Residents of the European Union member states may travel to Slovenia with the European health insurance card. The card may also be acquired by residents of Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. A special agreement is in place also for the residents of Croatia, who can use the health services in Slovenia with their health card. Residents of other states are recommended to conclude an international travel insurance before their trip to Slovenia. This is also recommended for residents of the countries listed above.

 

General safety

Slovenia is a safe country. You can walk around carefree in practically all places, even in the late night hours in large cities. However, the risk of falling victim to a criminal act remains, the most common of which is theft. You can significantly reduce or even eliminate such risk by taking appropriate action.
